(DRAFT II) A demand by the people of the Commonwealth of Masachusetts (01/22/2012)

(DRAFT II) A demand by the people of the Commonwealth of Masachusetts (01/22/2012)

 Residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts demand  that Governor, Deval Patrick, and the Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino:

  • STOP ALL DEPORTATIONS IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS
  • -END STATE AND LOCAL COOPERATION WITH THE “SECURE COMMUNITIES” PROGRAM
  • -REJECT ALL FEDERAL DETAINER REQUESTS

        Considering that over 4,000.000 American residents who have been declared ‘undocumented’ by law and subject to deportation during the past four years, and considering that the great majority of them are people of color and minorities, the United States government along with locally elected officials are guilty of forced deportations, apartheid government tactics, and human rights abuses;

        Considering that the ‘Secure Communities’ program forces local law enforcement to act as immigration officers, to profile people of color, and to begin the process of deportation on the suspicion of minor violations of the law;

        Considering that “Secure Communities” Program sows fear in immigrant communities with the ever present danger of deportation, of separating fathers and mothers from their children, of loosing their possessions and valuables, and their income or salaries cut off;

        Considering that millions of those residents that have been deported have no right to appear before a judge, have no right to be represented by a lawyer, and no right to appeal a deportation decision, amongst them American citizens, the Mayor of the City of Boston, Thomas Menino, and the Governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick, are complicit in civil and human rights violations, imposed by the federal government.

For this reason, I _________________________________________ join the voices of thousands of residents in the state of Massachusetts and in the United States in decrying this blatant injustice, and we demand that action be taken immediately.

  • -END STATE AND LOCAL COOPERATION WITH THE “SECURE COMMUNITIES” PROGRAM.
  • -REJECT ALL FEDERAL DETAINER REQUESTS
  • -STOP ALL DEPORTATIONS IN THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS

€ Failure to meet these demands will result in my public and vocal protest, participation in acts of civil disobedience, mass demonstrations and public denouncement of  elected government officials who disagree with this statement.
